When it comes to losing weight, there is a bit of misunderstanding surrounding the notion that you should eat 5 small meals per day. There really should be no concern as to whether or not this method of eating works. Bodybuilders have been employing it for decades. Today, the Medifast Diet is one that promotes the notion and does so effectively. When you eat 5 smaller meals throughout the day, you give your metabolism an amazing boost that enhances calorie burning to an enormous degree. And why should it not? It works perfectly with how the human body is designed. (more…)

  • The vast majority of Goji berries on the market comes from the Ningxia Hui region of Northern China. That same region is home to 16 times as many 100 year (or more) old people as the rest of the country. And not only do the inhabitants of Ningxia Hui live longer than their peers elsewhere, they’re also more youthful and healthy in their old age. Naturally this lends a certain credibility to the stories of the Goji berries’ remarkable powers. You can find goji information online if needed. (more…)

  • Slim in 6 Workout vs. P90X

Often I am asked about the best workout program For example women over 40 ask me if they are too old for P90X and should they do Slim in 6 instead? For me the answer lies not in age but in ability. Either program is great but which is best for you depends on your overall level of fitness now and what you have done in the past.

P90X is an intense bootcamp style workout with some weights used and it’s designed to get you into the best shape possible. I like P90X a lot and it was the first Beachbody program I used. I got great results from it. Now I’ll also admit that I was probably somewhat marginal to go forward with it. My physical conditioning was weak (I was mostly walking before I started), I was overweight, over 50 and had some old injuries. But I have been quite fit before so that was the reason I felt I could move forward with P90X even though I had to modify the workout at first.

Slim in 6 is a good overall program that has a bit less intensity than P90X. As such it is a great workout for women over 40 who are really out of shape and want a program that can produce big results but not overwhelm them.

  • For years doctors have agreed that the best way to lose a significant percentage of body fat is through a high protein, low carbohydrate formulation which allows the body to tap into its own fat stores. Even more of an incentive is that once the body has entered into this fat-burning state, called ketosis, hunger remains suppressed so that calorie restriction is not such a struggle. One of the most trusted plans recommended by doctors is the Medifast Diet, which has a high quality formulation developed by the medical community specifically to trigger the body into ketosis. The Medifast plan offers a variety of meal replacements such as shakes, drinks, pudding, oatmeal, bars, and more. Meal replacements are incredibly convenient for those who find their lifestyle precludes them from doing a lot of shopping, menu planning and cooking. Not only that, but meal replacements can be used strategically when temptation strikes. The plan allows for one prepared meal per day consisting of a serving of lean protein and three servings of low carbohydrate vegetables. (more…)
